Ipod
Outline of an ipod
An IPOD is a transferable, mobile device for storing and playing audio files programmed by MP3 or AAC compression algorithms. IPods are proposed by Apple computer. Each iPod has unique style and characters which can store from hundred to ten thousand songs. The original iPod was released in 2001 and was made with a body of white Lucite and chrome. There are different kinds of iPods like traditional iPod, video iPod, iPod nano and iPod shuffle. The smallest size is Shuffle which has a size of a pack of stick gums. IPods also come in variety of shiny metallic colors. You get all iPods with unique white headphones.
Storage
The iPods, both larger and mini sized, use hard disk for storage. They use two types of storage. Shuffle type utilizes memory called as flash different from the computer memory. Flash memory has its memory even when the power is off. You get higher storage capacity in three products even if prices have increased. Standard iPods use batteries 700mah, 3.7 volts which is rechargeable. These batteries last for 300 to 500 recharge cycles then you can use it for a year and you can replace it or flash memory..
Software used
IPods created by Apple is very simple and easy to use. You can connect it to your personal computer. You use Windows or Macintosh which iPod corresponds with Apple software called iTunes. The iPod and iTunes work jointly to coordinate the songs existing in the iPod to those present in the PC. These are done without the user’s intervention. This is the reason for its difference from MP3 player. IPod uses AAC or Advanced Audio Coding which was originated by Dolby Labs – an element of MPEG-4 audio or video standard while MP3 uses only audio files. AAC uses DRM which answers to the type of song first allowed by Napster, a website.
Difference of ipod from mp3 player
IPods are different from MP3 player. IPod is a particular product of MP3 player, created by Apple that has a definite set of characteristics and design. Apple has introduced various new products like iPod classic, iPod touch, various spin-off devices like iPod photo. IPod uses software like iTunes to transmit music to music devices. Not only music is transmitted but also photos, videos, games and other elements are transferred which you cannot do in an mp3 player. You have open source software utilized by iPods while mp3 doesn’t use this type of software.
